Unashamedly about a Reed Warbler
June's highlight has happened. A Reed Warbler singing again on the edge of the Shoulder of Mutton. Something we thought might not happen this year what with the trashing of much of the habitat on the eastern side of the lake. The reeds maybe only knee high but there he was, as Dan had texted me, belting it out for all he was worth. Could it be our returning bird? Will it stay? Who cares, it's just wonderful hearing the "werp werp werp werp weepweep ptang" once again on the patch and where it should be, and showing , er, well!
Just about made my day, until I remembered it was Monday, and the 2nd of June. Despair!
